Overcome by These Three
And they defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.…
How committed are you to winning the ultimate victory in life, and in death? There are two enemies of your faith; sin and Satan. The good news of the Gospel is this, neither can keep you from the love of God and eternal life. The Apostle John gave us these instructions for dealing with sin in our lives;
Do not love this world nor the things it offers, for when you love the world you do not have the love of the Father in you. The world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a lust for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
Later, John beheld the saints in glory and heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens;
“Now salvation, and power, and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been thrown down. And they defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”
Jesus has already purchased your redemption and provided atonement for your sin through his blood. That fact is forever established in earth and heaven. When we abide in Him and His word abides in us we bear fruit to the Father. We love Him and not our lives in this world. No false accusation can stand when we live our lives as a testimony of His mercy and grace. We carry our cross and see ourselves crucified with Him letting Him live His life in us. Should accusation turn to persecution we remain in faith, even unto death, for there is no nobler victory than to live in Christ forever.
